i noticed on my way home from work that my bike had a strange vibration, only noticeable at 50mph or more (yes, i can go faster, lmao).so much so my teeth were almost chattering and i was seeing double. seemed to be coming from the front of the bike. nothing to see when i pulled up so gingerly made my way home.

i had the front wheel balanced yesterday and the guy said i had a slight buckle but nothing he was concerned about, do you think that is the problem? if it is what can i do about it

i have my bike front up at the moment and have spun the wheel, i can see a slight buckle, but really hard to see.

any thought if it is this or something else.

check everything is tight on the front end check both tyre pressures and if it wasnt wobbling as bad before it was balanced then it has been done wrong

everything checks out tight.

both pressures spot on now.

wobble/vibration started a few days before balancing was done, thought i would have balancing done just to eliminate one possible reason for it.

i'm going to give garage a ring in the morning and see if they will have a quick look. been out on it today and it is running great apart from this vibration at the front end.

dont ring and ask them just go there and tell them they f*ked up.. Check if the weights have fallen off (balancing weights)

Are you heavy on the front brake? Sounds like tyre wear. I had the same problem @ 110mph changed front tyre problem solved!

the front tyre has less than 500 miles on it. i think i'm balanced on front and back brakes (probably biased to back if i'm honest.

BB3lions, the vibration was there before they balanced the wheel, but no better afterwards, i thought it would eliminate a possible reason for the vibration.

well, had it back to the shop today. they did a test ride, vibration is coming from the back. so, had to take panniers off this afternoon and got to take it back in the morning and they will balance back wheel and we go from there.

now, they noticed my handle bars are bent, i never noticed till they told me, now i'm paranoid, lol.

the previous owner may had had a drop, but i can't see any other damage and i put new bar ends on when i bought it.

anyway, question is, as the bar isn't to noticeably bent, can i leave them, straighten them or replace them?

strighten them or try MandP.co.uk for a replacement set... (better IMO)

well, went back to the garage, they went to balance the back wheel to find a bleb in the centre of the tyre, not due to be replaced but would have done so before winter set in, so i got a new tyre all balanced and set off with a big smile on my face only to find the same damn vibration on the motorway. it's so bad i see double vertically, lol.

rang the guys at the garage and they are as stumped as me (a bit worrying as this is what they do for a living).

so back again in the morning.

at this rate i'll be buying another bike.

will do

it had new front wheel bearings put in 6 weeks ago.

i'll ask the garage to check everything.

turns out it is the rear wheel, has a bad flat spot. they say there is nothing they can do, needs a replacement wheel. so on the lookout (posted a wanted add)
