exhaust compression gaskets...

Now i have just replaced the copper gaskets on my Gt 550 and its still blowing like a hurricane what do you guys usually do as the clamps etc are all tight.. do you use assembley paste or guim gum etc?

are the pipes located correctly and are all the collars in place there is normally 2 dollars for each pipe

Have you used all the parts, gasket, collars and clamps..

also check that the studs are located correctly/fully as loose or protruding studs wont aid fitment... best to fit them with loctite before bringing up the pipes... and use coppergrease on the nuts.. (aids removal later )

its a non standard Motad 4 into 1 system so its slightly different... howev4er i did use all the correct bits.. gaskets sleeves and finally clamps...

did you make sure you got all the old gaskets out and not left part trapped inside as sometimes happens

there were no old gaskets in 3 of the 4 cylinders mate... the one that was there dropped out straight away

is it blowing on all 4 headers?

i cant tell to be honest as the noise off the one overrides the others and i cant get my hand around the pipes for the heat... i dont think they ar eall blowing to be honest as it only seems like the one but i cant be sure

try loosening them (not all, the way), and then tighten in succession (a little at a time), i.e number the studs l-r 1-8

do 1, 8, 3, 6, 2, 7, 4, 5...

this will bring the headers in square and tight on all cylinders, could be they are slightly out, and thats why your blowing..

i will give it a shot when i get time and see what happens,,, these 4 into 1s are aright pain to line up.. thanks for the advice folks
