Ok guys, may have picked out my choice of lid. Does this sound OK to you. I did not think Arai would allow price cuts. Could it be a foreign import. I`ve heard they do different shaped lids for different continents. And please don`t all laugh out loud if this is a load of tosh.

I know a medium Arai will fit me but is this dogy buying of e-bay.

I have a Viper GT lid, not that design, but in my opinion it's brilliant, really nice comfy fit and good ventilation.

The main problem I can see with buying them online is they will just send you a bog standard helmet, where as if you go into a proper Arai dealers, they will tailor the helmet to your head using different size cheek pads and paddings.

I got mine from Hein Gericke and they swapped the inners around till it was just right for me.

My previous Arai I bought from J & S in Leeds, when at a bike show there was an Arai display unit that were offering a free service of helmets, I took mine along and they instantly knew that it wasn't an official import, when asked where I got it they said that J & S bought them from abroad and imported them themselves, so could offer them at a cheaper price, but Arai UK would not honour the warrenty and if there was a problem with it, it would have to go back to J & S to sort. This may be the case with the Ebay lid? As it happened I never had a problem with it so it didn't matter, but something to consider?

Cheers for that Hodgy, very informative. I think I`ll stick to a dealer and pay that bit extra. Hein Gerrick in Peterborough is my nearest dealer and I think I`ll get a good deal from them, plus a load of loyalty points.

I got an Arai Chaser from them, I tracked the number on the orange label down to Holland. I saved about £65 on it, very happy. If I ever need support I'll just say I bought it when I was over in Holland, chances are they won't refuse, however I doubt I'll need Arai to do anything to it!?!

After 6 months with it I'd say Arai are comfy but not quiet, prefer it to the Shoei xr1000 I had though.
