argentum40 Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 Now this may sound a basic question but last time i had a bike with a fuel tap it had on/off/reserve... i of course understand what the on and reserve do but what exactly is the prime setting used for? Quote
Guest Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 prime is to fill the carbs after the level has dropped to low (vacuum fed)"Many motorcycles now have an automatic, vacuum operated, petcock, with on and reserve as well as a prime position, which is used if the fuel level is run so low that the engine cannot be started."hence if you have emptied "Reserve" Quote
argentum40 Posted September 17, 2010 Author Posted September 17, 2010 so if u say run out of fuel, fill up again then switch to prime to get her going.. then switch back to ON position is that right? Quote
Guest Posted September 17, 2010 Posted September 17, 2010 basically.. prime puts down more fuel. Quote
