Decor58 Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 LinkOn this site there are two bt45's that would fit my bike and one's cheaper than the other, but does anyone know what difference the 'B' in there makes? Quote
Guest Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 Its the speed rating. Not sure which is which but one will be made for faster speeds than the other. Quote
Decor58 Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 I thought that at first but B isn't a speed ratingN 87 P 93 Q 99 R 106 S 112 T 118 U 124H 130V 149Z 150+W 168Y 186 Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 could also relate to older compound tyre Quote
Decor58 Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 For the sake of saving £4 which would you get then? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 if you are going in to buy the tyre have a look at them both and on the sidewalls there is a date code all tyres have this in which case go for the latest date code In the example above:DOT U2LL LMLR 5107 DOT U2LL LMLR 5107 Manufactured during the 51st week of the year DOT U2LL LMLR 5107 Manufactured during 2007 Idealy you want tyres with last 2 numbers being 09 or 10 Quote
Guest Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I am gonna hazard a guess that it is a BMW oe tyre. Hence the K1100LT after it.Same applies to tyres for Jags and Porsche Quote
NC24 Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 (edited) The B version has a reinforced sidewall and is BMW OE. You don't need it unless you have a particularly lard assed bike Edited October 19, 2010 by NC24 Quote

Decor58 Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 The BMW version is cheaper then?? lolIf that's the only difference I'll go with that one Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 is the bmw tyre not squarer at the edge of tread like the harley and goldwing tyre? Quote
Guest Posted October 19, 2010 Posted October 19, 2010 I'd go with the normal one Rob, not the beemer one. Might find its a bit hard as well as possibly squarer like Steve suggests. Quote
Decor58 Posted October 19, 2010 Author Posted October 19, 2010 In that case it's the normal one! Thanks for the info guys Quote
