demise of sanity Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 hey , i'm 17 , passed my theory and putting in for mod 1 , so afterwards i can ride a 250 for 2 years. But when it comes to buying a 125 ,, i have my eye on the 93 Suzuki RG125, i just wondered if this fits under all the requirements and would be good to go for on my test. If not , what would be a nice sporty , 125 thatd be well suited for slalems etc. thanks againdale Quote
gilly_uk Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 I did my test on a r125 and got that round the mod 1. U can pick a second hand one quite cheap. I know have a restricted gsxr 600 so it can be done, good luck Quote
Guest Posted December 4, 2010 Posted December 4, 2010 If i remember correctly, the RG125 is a 2 stroke and can be troublesome for you in two ways;It might not be restricted (as most aren't) and therefore won't be learner legal. Its a 2 stroke. It will break. It will need to be treated VERY carefully and nicely. And it will need regular maintenance. Quote

Out of "sporty" 125s the best one would be Honda CBR125 as it have most upright riding position. Ones like YZF-R125, Derbi GPR125 are also not too bad but you would notice the difference in slalom and u-turn. If you want to get 125 only to do your tests then get the cheapest thing you can find (but not chinese) Suzuki EN125, Honda CG125, Yamaha YBR125 or even better - hire it from school and save money for bigger bike Quote
