stevie16v Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 As you all know im currently rebuilding/refurbing a 93 xj600. I balanced the carbs today and it sounds awesome! (although its a pain to get into the sync screws)Made my way to the front and tried flushing the old brake fluid through, pressing the lever it came all the way to the grip. adjusted it, still the same. undone the hose etc when i press the handle very little (eg a drip) came out i cleaned the reservoir as it was disgusting. If i hold my finger over the outlet valve i can feel pressure building up, I let my finger off and a small spurt of fluid comes out (thinking thats ok) all back together. try bleeding it. nope it wont push anything through the bleed nipple. im assuming the master cylinder has maybe gone and isnt proving enough pressure, would that be right? eastanglianbiker Posted January 13, 2011 Posted January 13, 2011 have u taken the bleed nipple right out of the caliper it might be blocked otherwise it does sound like its master cylinder rebuild or replace time.you can get kits to repair them, also check that the brake hose itself hasnt collapsed inside due to age Quote
stevie16v Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 yeah i've checked the nipple etc. all seems fine at that side. looks like ill just try get a second hand one instead of paying nearly 40 quid for a rebuild kit! Quote

stevie16v Posted January 13, 2011 Author Posted January 13, 2011 Ta. I seen one with a caliper and hose for £30 so i might get that I've tied up the handle and will leave it overnight as someone advised me to do that over on diversion club. Failing that, I'll be getting a new one... Quote
CamChain Posted January 14, 2011 Posted January 14, 2011 Have you tried to push fluid through the hose while it's disconnected from the caliper, just to make sure the hose is not blocked or perished inside. Quote

Yeah i've tried that, All good with it. Looks as though its a seal thats gone in the m/c. I'll just get a second hand one Quote
