What year is the bike in question? To fit a topbox, you'll be requiring a rear rack 1st (if you haven't already) so one of these:

(But for your year of bike!)

Then once that's fitted, you can basicaly attach any topbox, however it is preferable to buy one that comes with a mounting plate. If you have a search around you'll more than likely come across Givi. They're boxes are a good standard, however in my opinion you are paying for the badge. Something like a Tech7 is far better value for money.

I've got a 48 Litre and a 32 litre. The 48 came with my Bandit, and is large, however if your going touring it'd be the most suitable as you can cram much more in. What amount of luggage will you be expecting to carry? A spare helmet, shopping, rucksack, etc...

Pannier are also a good option for cheep storage. There'd be two types, (same as top boxes) solid plastic/metal or fabric ones. There are fabric panniers such as 'oxford 1st time biker' which offer a great amount of storage for a low cost, however they may leak a little in heavy heavy rain, and the possibility of them/the insides being stolen is higher.

Sorry if you already knew most of that, but thought it'd be better making one post instead of multiple ones.

Hope this helps.

Panniers would be lovely, I need them too. The problem is, there are no luggage racks for terra adventures out there that I can find, Derbi discontinued them as an option and nobody seems to make them after-market. :(

Chris if you find the specifications of one, then i'm pretty sure that a member or two on the forum would gladly knock you up a set, for a small price. (PM sent)

Thanks for the PM, will look into it once I get back to England and get the bike :D All slightly hypothetical at the moment, but at least I am decided on the bike. Will get back to you guys.
