freetime101 Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 Just my chuffing luck, got to leave work early, beautiful day - time for a ride Got to the end of the estate and the gear lever falls off bolloxOn closer inpection the splined shaft has snapped - due to a bodged repair by the previous owner Any ideas on how big a job this is to fix? It's a 2005 YBR 125, any help on what I need, how to do it or what it might cost would be appreiciatedThanks in advance Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 21, 2011 Posted March 21, 2011 will need to drain oil remove clutch case possibly remove clutch basket itself mgiht not have to on that bike not sure then you should be able to pull gear selector bar out from clutch side and replace with new one make sure you get it lined up right (take note of position of old one before removing) put clutch back in if you had to remove it clean cases up new gasket torque it closed fill with oil is the minimum you will have to do Quote
bex Posted March 22, 2011 Posted March 22, 2011 could have been worse mate, your clutch leaver could have fell off lol (only happened twice to me ) before you do the work get all the kit together, have you got a haynes manual? if not get online and download a manual of some sort. Quote
freetime101 Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 The clutch lever certainly would've been worse! Though I have already snapped the throttle cable... That was fairly badHmmm, sounds like a big job, and one which I don't have all the tools for - might have to brace myself and call the garage...Sent from my MB525 using Tapatalk Quote
freetime101 Posted March 22, 2011 Author Posted March 22, 2011 Just got the price - £160, ouchAnd it needs a new back tyre which puts it up to well over £300...Anybody want to buy a single speed ybr? Edit; I should add the bike was only £650 so £300+ seems alotSent from my MB525 using Tapatalk Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted March 23, 2011 Posted March 23, 2011 is it not a job you could cope with doing at home to save some money this is the part that needs replacing and you see how much you can get it for http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/YAMAHA-YBR125-YBR ... 27b97cf4d0 Quote
freetime101 Posted March 25, 2011 Author Posted March 25, 2011 Hmmm, it's worth a try at that price!I guess even if I do mess it up, I'm only back where I started. Thanks for the link, I wasn't sure exactly which bit I neededSent from my MB525 using Tapatalk Quote
