Has Anyone Turbo'd Their Bike? If So How Did You Do It?

My friend is turbo'ing his mates ZX6R, he's never done anything like it before. But if it works he said he will turbo my FZR600 3HE for free, as long as I supply the parts.

I was wondering what I will need to do it.

I know I will need:

- a turbo

- plenum chamber

- exhaust manifold

- oil feed

- loads of pipework

Will I need an intercooler?

Where can I tap into to get the oil feed?

Will I need to lower the engines compression, if so can I do it by having a head gasket spacer made up, and how do I work out what size spacer I will need to lower the compression by X?

Just get a thou and you will have an instant turbo on your 600cc. No point tbh

Best reply I can give is DON'T. Most turbo'd bikes spend very little time being ridden. They look good on the car park, but don't usually last long. You don't need low compression pistons if you run low boost pressures, below 5psi , I think. You will need a seperate turbo oil tank , pump, switches and warning lights/pressure gauge. You won't need an intercooler, but you will need a wastegate/dump valve, opens to relieve turbo pressure and exhaust gas flow through turbo. You will probably need a beefed up clutch and better brakes. You will also need a fat wallet and a bicycle for when you lose your license

It's only going to be ridden a few times a year, mainly on track.

And i've got 2 other bikes to use whilst it's being built.
