spunky1976 Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 so the thundercat failed its mot again this year front brakes need rebuilding again (did them last year ) and rear suspension is stiff garage are stripping it down to identify whether it is the bushes or the shock, does anyone have any experience with getting the rear shock refurbished and what sort of cost i would be looking at? thankssteve Quote
Chrissb6 Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Prob be the bushes or bearings mate, thats got to be the first port of call. Get the bike jacked up, disconnect the shock and see if the rear arm moves Quote
megawatt Posted April 16, 2011 Posted April 16, 2011 Try these guys;http://www.mctsuspension.com/home.htm Quote
spunky1976 Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 thanks for the link, so far after another chat with the mechanic who did mot the brakes are probably sticky due to road film and unlikely to need another rebuild (thank F**K) and he will be taking the rear end apart but looks like its going to be the linkage Quote
Guest Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Why dont you give the brakes a quick once over before mot time? I gave my SV a good once over before hand and it flew through, will do for any other bike too. Quote
spunky1976 Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 i didn't feel any binding at all but will certainly be giving them a once over before the next mot barring a windfall and a bike upgrade Quote
Chrissb6 Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 Should not be to big issue then, just take apart clean, regrease and rebuild. Best of luck Quote
spunky1976 Posted April 23, 2011 Author Posted April 23, 2011 F**K it, all linkage bearings are seized solid and now mechanic saying he's not sure the shock is actually damping and they can't give me a price till next thursday. I bounced up and down on the suspension before it went in and it seemed to be no different to how it has been the whole time i've owned this bike (although i didn't notice the linkage) 3rd mot i've put it through and first time this problem has come up not even had advisories for suspension.Right royally fed up at the minute looks like another fortnight at least with no bike Quote
Chrissb6 Posted April 24, 2011 Posted April 24, 2011 Get the links fixed first, then check out the shock. Quote
