cypek Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 I'm a bit confused about how much oil will I need. In Haynes it says:Oil change - approx 500ccAfter disassembly - 584 to 592cc So, does that mean I won't get away with just 1l of oil? Will I have to buy 2l?? Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 i would read it as 500cc if only changing oil and more if you are taking forks apart completly to change the seals Quote
Fozzie Posted April 18, 2011 Posted April 18, 2011 What he said...Basically are you just swapping the fork oil (because its gacky and old)Or are you changing the fork and dust seals? If just swapping the oil then you need to pour it out and put 500ml (its ml not cc aint it?) back in.If you are doing the fork seals then you need to put upto 584 to 592ml in. So aim for 588ml and that gives you some lee way either way.I hate taking apart forks so enjoy Quote
cypek Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 Dunno why but it does say cc not ml in Haynes lol. Anyway, I found 500ml bottles at Halfords so I just buy 1.5l. Thanks for replies guys Quote
cypek Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 500ml equals 500cc Thats what I thought but I think my brain was still asleep Quote
megawatt Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 Funny how all the manufacturers specify a bit more than 500cc in each fork leg, just so you have to but 1.5 litres Quote
