Raym Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 I have a honda cb 750 and had to have the tank resprayed last year thats when the problem of it cutting out started so i took the bike to the guy who resprayed it and he sorted it out ( cleaned some filter i think ) .It has run fine since then but yesterday it has started cutting out again After it cutting out if i open the filler cap it starts and runs again for awhile' I would take it back to the guy but he is no longer there Any ideas would be great thanks Quote
argentum40 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 sound slike the breather is blocked mate... when you release the fuel cap the vacuum created by a blocked breather is released and normal service is resumed... Alot fo fuel caps have inbuilt breathers so it probs needs a new cap... Quote
Raym Posted April 19, 2011 Author Posted April 19, 2011 come to think about it when it first started cutting out last year there was a hiss when i opened the cap Quote
argentum40 Posted April 19, 2011 Posted April 19, 2011 come to think about it when it first started cutting out last year there was a hiss when i opened the cap thee you go then if yopu can hear the pressure releasing when u open the cap the beather is deffo blocked... Just make sure the cap for your bike has a breather... i think it will have but double check afore you buy one.. you coudl of course use it as is and just open the cap every so often Quote
Raym Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 Without sounding a complete numty what should the breather look like in my cap Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted April 20, 2011 Posted April 20, 2011 it will be a very small hole in the cap and will vent out the top check the condition of the seal around the cap as well Quote
Raym Posted April 20, 2011 Author Posted April 20, 2011 cant see no hole in the top of the cap but there is a square shaped hole above the seal Quote
