Just an easy one really and sure someone out there has done this at some point. I have a spare ignition barrel for my RS but no key for it. Now there is a number stamped on it which i would assume is the key number??

If so what do you need to do to get a new key cut.. Is it simply a case of going to a Yamaha dealer with the number or do you need to take the barrel too?.. :D

if the number is on the bottom of the ign unit that is normally the number.if you have lock smiths near you that can cut keys from blanks pop in and see them as they might be able to do it for you and would be cheaper than yamaha

the number is stamped on the chromed top mate and the same number is on the helmet lock as well.. not actually looked on the bottom of the barrel as its still attached to the bike lol...i will also add i dont have a key for that ignition barrel at all for a locksmith to use as a template.. therefore i think Yamaha would be the only place i could go to get one
