Capitano Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 The lad and I bobbed down to the Adur Transport Fayre today. We used to go a few years ago but have missed it for about 3 years. My mate Greg used to show his latest restoration projects there, usually a 50s/60s Triumph or BSA of some description. This continued even when Greg was undergoing chemotherapy and surgery for cancer.Having beaten cancer he sadly died of a heart attack, an irony he'd have found hilarious I'm sure. Not many bikes there and not much interest in the ones that were there. In fact my W800 had more of a crowd in the car park. The whole day seems to have become less of the transport more of the fayre. There were some great old cars and a few military vehicles there though, among the Morris dancers and the Donkey Derby, which seem to have infiltrated the day since we were last there. Here are some photos for the 4 and 2 wheel nostalgics amongst you.http://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2436.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2437.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2438.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2439.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2440.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2441.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2442.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2443.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2444.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2445.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2446.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2447.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2448.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2449.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2450.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2451.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2452.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2453.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2454.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2455.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2456.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2457.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2458.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2459.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2460.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2461.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2465.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2466.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2467.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2468.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2469.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2470.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2471.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2472.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2473.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2474.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2475.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2476.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2477.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2478.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2479.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2480.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2481.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2482.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2483.jpghttp://i76.photobucket.com/albums/j9/ged_asbery/Adur%20Transport%20Fayre%202011/DSCF2484.jpg Quote
RiffmasterII Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Looks like a great day out, some cracking looking cars there. How long is it on for? Quote
Capitano Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 It was only on for 5 hours today I'm afraid. The old Puch was a corker, totally unrestored! The guy had ridden it there and reckoned he had 2 more that he rode around on regularly too. Quote
Susieque Posted June 19, 2011 Posted June 19, 2011 Once again some memory jerkers there! In my teens a friend used to drive her dad's Austin Cambridge & I remember the headlight dipper being a push button on the floor next to the clutch pedal! And I used to get a lift to college every day in a Tessie (Triumph Vitesse) convertible - at the time I thought it was awesome!!! I also remember a friend having an Allegro (not the posh Vanden Plas) and the had squared off steering wheels!! Quote
Capitano Posted June 19, 2011 Author Posted June 19, 2011 Yep, I remember the square steering wheels too. Quote
Nogin Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Ooooo I love the rusty old 2 stroke CZ, do you know if it was a 250 or 175? Quote
Capitano Posted June 20, 2011 Author Posted June 20, 2011 Ooooo I love the rusty old 2 stroke CZ, do you know if it was a 250 or 175? It was a Puch (Austrian) 250 Quote
Nogin Posted June 20, 2011 Posted June 20, 2011 Its Identical to a a CZ/Jawa my wife's uncle has in Czech, I wonder if there is a link? Quote
Capitano Posted June 21, 2011 Author Posted June 21, 2011 Its Identical to a a CZ/Jawa my wife's uncle has in Czech, I wonder if there is a link? It does look very similar in many ways to the 1960s Jawa 250 type 353 but I don't ever remember Jawas (or CZs) having side mounted carbs, which was the distinguishing feature of this Puch. There was obviously some plagiarism, cloning and copying around in the 50s and 60s particularly amongst two stroke workhorse bikes. DKW (East German) 2 stroke technology was recognised as the pinnacle at the time and so found its way both West and East into MZs, CZs, Voshkods and the BSA Bantam. Quote
