Guest Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 I've got an Arai Axces helmet with a clear pinlock on the visor. this morning was the first weather ive really riden in to test it properly and im worried its not fitted/working properly.clear morning, 5.30 am, a little rolling mist across the fields (very eerie!), a nip in the air. i had the moth vent open and one of the top visor vents open however the visor started to fog up, even with the pinlock. I had to lift the visor to clear which was a bit of a pain as it was bloody chilly.have i done something wrong when i fitted it? it seems to be fitting correctly. are they generally not that great?ta Quote
Big Stu Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 not tried the pinlock yet, still saving for a better helmet. Bought a stick on type from ebay in the mean time, meant toreat to sunlight and darken accordingly. TBH has worked pretty well so far, only down point is it doesnt adhere to the visor properly all the way round. This means it lets in a wee bit of moisture and mists up at times.I imagine this is the same problem your having. from my understanding of proper pinlocks it sounds as though your is not fully sealed and is letting in summit it shouldnt Quote
Stu Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 The seal won't have sealed properly the pins will need adjusting They work brilliant but getting them to fit right can be a pain Quote
chiz Posted July 5, 2011 Posted July 5, 2011 If you bought your lid from an Arai five star dealer then go back there and get them to look at it, they should at least give it a once over and diagnose the problem free of charge.Failing that, you need to dismantle it and give it a good clean and dry (I can't think what cleaning agent Arai recommend, it'll be on their website I'd imagine). When you put it all back together, pay particular attention to the pins, they rotate within the holes in the visor, because of the shape of the pins you can make the pinlock lens tighter against the visor.Word of warning; The lens needs to be tight enough to prevent any moisture getting in between it and the visor but not too tight as you risk breaking the pins, which are a f**k on to fit properly.
