Ryder2889 Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Just noticed some fluid on the driveway under the radiator. Stuck my head under the car and its defo the blue colour engine coolant from the radiator. Here are some pictures:http://img696.imageshack.us/img696/4251/imag0194o.jpghttp://img163.imageshack.us/img163/2599/imag0195b.jpghttp://img638.imageshack.us/img638/475/imag0196d.jpghttp://img651.imageshack.us/img651/3451/imag0197m.jpghttp://img855.imageshack.us/img855/5107/imag0198m.jpghttp://img822.imageshack.us/img822/4144/imag0199p.jpghttp://img834.imageshack.us/img834/7697/imag0200g.jpghttp://img196.imageshack.us/img196/9915/imag0201g.jpgIt cannot have been leaking long and I plan on making sure I keep it topped up with coolant (out to buy some now), but I am just wondering if any of you have any idea what I should do... how bad a leaking radiator is? Whether the car should even be used with a leak in the radiator?Help is grately appreciated. I plan on giving this place in my town which deals with old peugeots a bell on Monday, see what they say. This old banger is very important for our life, we both work far away from where we live, getting a little worried here. Quote
Ryder2889 Posted August 20, 2011 Author Posted August 20, 2011 Wrong forum Not so, there are a few very nice and smart chaps on here who may be able to assist. Quote
satnavsatnav Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 First find exactly where leaking from is it the rad or do the hoses need replacing or tightening up if the rad then you can try rad weld from any motor shop it might be a cheap fix as a rad will probably set you back £60 plus pounds good luck Quote

eastanglianbiker Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 agree with checking the hoses and condition of them around the clips and get a can of rad weld in it Quote
Bogof Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Just noticed some fluid on the driveway under the radiator. Stuck my head under the car and its defo the blue colour engine coolant from the radiator. If you topped it up BEFORE the "leak" showed itself, it's possible that it's just overflow from the expansion bottle... especially if it's as warm there today as it was here Quote

Bogof Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 Can anyone tell me what this is (blue arrow).... Looks to be a plug which sits on top of the radiator and allows you to release air when you're refilling after draining the system. Check that it's tight and not leaking/cracked, and that the rubber sealing ring under it is not perished. Quote
cyberwolf Posted August 20, 2011 Posted August 20, 2011 try using k-seal if you got a leak http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/K-SEAL-HEAD-G ... 43a89b7fd6 thats what i was told to use in my 406. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 21, 2011 Posted August 21, 2011 that bit marked on pic is for bleeding air out of rad when first filled up and it might have a rubber seal on it that has perished might be worth taking it out and checking condition of rubber seal and you can if you need to wind some PTFE tape round it and then put it back in to help stop it leaking Quote
