Guest Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 so the trouble begins, ive got to try and recall what i was told originally but basically last year this bike refused to fire one morning. Now a year later and after my bruv paid out hundreds to a useless "useless local bike mecganic" to no avail ive had a quick fiddle and with just a charged battery and a can of carb cleaner sprayed lightly into the tb's it fires up. Now this is all good but im guessing its got no power to the injectors or the pump so where do i start? I'm very mechanically minded in that i will work on anything but have never had the opportunity to play with injected bikes.help please seriously tho any advice is greatly appreciated many thanks in advance - ant Quote
Rebel Rach Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 just asked martin as he had a tlr. he says go have a look on the tlzone. it is a dedicated forum for tl owners and there is everything you'll need to fix and improve your tlr.hope this helps Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 check fuses first off then give fuel pump a tap as it might of stuck due to not being used for so long Quote
Guest Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 awesome forgot about the tlzone and its defo not stick as i ran a feed to it but i know the bike literally worked one day then not the next but as he was so unwell he didint have the strength to repair it Quote
Stu Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 TLzone is the place to be but first have you got fI on the dash this will tell you if there is a fault wit the injection system If there is Suzuki have a built in diagnostic system and all you have to do is bridge two wires under the pillion seat and it will point you in the right direction If on fI then I recon its the fuel filter inside the fuel tank its a common problem Remove it and replace with a bit of fuel pipe and put an inline filter on outside the tank Quote
Stu Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Also you should hear the fuel pump whine for a few seconds when you first turn the key its the same system as my TLS Quote

Stu Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 I'm using my phone at the min so reply's will be short Everything must be plugged in for the fI to go off all sensors the lot Also if the bike is in gear the pump won't prime it could be a problem with your clutch or side stand switch too I would start with the bike back together and everything plugged in then bridge the diagnostic plug to see what code comes up on the dash The plug is under the pillion seat on the right its white with a rubber cover with two wires put a piece of wise between the two wires on the plug turn ignition on and it will bring up any codes then we can look them up Quote
Guest Posted August 22, 2011 Posted August 22, 2011 Cheers Stu its all together still so soon as I get home tomorrow afternoon ill do the test Quote
Guest Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 just did the wire trick and came up with -c41 code am gonna check in the service book ive got but any advice welcome http://i45.photobucket.com/albums/f55/antandhistro/IMG-20110823-00037.jpg Quote
Stu Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 c41 is Fuel pump relay signal circuit malfunctionWhen no signal from fuel pump relay, c41 is indicated.areas to check are Fuel pump relay, connecting lead, power source to fuel pump relay.i would start checking the wiring a the fuel pump relay do you have a multimeter? Stu Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 i would find the live feed to the fuel pump and trace it back and start testing at each connection it could just be a dodgy connection ive done a quick google and seen horror stories of replacing the ecu also check your side stand switch and kill switch and tip over sensor as all these are related to the error too Quote

Quote
Stu Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 to be honest im not sure exactly how they work but it should be located under the rider seat and it has some sort system in it that when it goes over a certain angle it cuts the fuel off it has two wires and im sure if you disconect it and short the two wires the the TOS is as if its working fine but dont quote me on that i would remove it and you will hear something inside it when you tip it side to side i would test the continuity with a multimeter and at the same time tip it side to side it should come one or go off depending on how it works hope that helps in anyway stu Quote

Stu Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 no worries let us know how you get on shame your not closer i could have sorted it for ya unless you want to swap it for a working TL1000s Quote
Guest Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 no worries let us know how you get on shame your not closer i could have sorted it for ya unless you want to swap it for a working TL1000s i will do and no matter how tempting this bike stays with me its worth as much to me as my own daughter and having said that i deliver in hull most weeks so ill just bring it up with me lol Quote
Stu Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 if you do get that fed up with it bring it up here Quote
Guest Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 ok sooooooooooooooo i get home from the last of my mod1 training with a nice new multimeter and the service book for all the figures and when i put the key in the pump hums away happily as if its never stopped i then think WTF! put the wire in shove the ignition on and get a nice c00 no error reading confused much. Currently she's sat outside with fresh petrol and the battery on charge ill update once ive been out and tried it Quote
Stu Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 The code means there is no error now and all is working fine If there's no fuel in the tank the pump will just keep going as its the fuel pressure switch that tells it when to stop I think you have an intermittent fault and I will bet any money its a loose connection somewhere probably the big white/clear connector block that takes all the power to the ignition its on the right side of the frame behind the fairing Quote

Stu Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 It's the joys of owning a TL Once you sort all the little niggles it will run forever Quote
Guest Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 ok so with a fair bit of charge ive just given it a good turnover but will only fire with the spray in the bodies however whilst looking down the bodies should i be able to see fuel spray into the inlets? Quote
Stu Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Yes you should be able to see fuel I'm guessing your not?Does the fuel pump stop after a few seconds? If not it sounds like no fuel is going through to to injector rail Quote
