Remy Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 Mine seems to be crap?? When I first got the Gladius it's battery died after it had been sitting for not very long, so I got it exchanged under warranty. However this new one doesn't seem much better! I've been on fairly long rides at any one time but the battery appears not to be able to cope with anything .One time I accidentally parked it with it's parking light on, for a couple of hours - the battery was completely flat. Then I went to a garage to fuel up, and tried to adjust the clock with the ignition on which must have taken all of one minute. When I went to start it, it just about turned over The last time I used it was last week going to a bike meet, and today I was going to the same meet and the battery had died! Is this normal??? My YBR was stood for six months unused over winter, and when I got it out in March it started first time! Quote
Stu Posted August 23, 2011 Posted August 23, 2011 a battery need to be kept in tip top condition all the time letting it run flat can cause it to drop a cell and will never hold a decent charge have you got an alarm? this will drain a bit while its stood also invest in an optimate charger and leave it plugged in all the time dont forget you have a V twin they are harder to turn over then a 125 single and a inline 4 Quote
Colin the Bear Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 It may not be charging. Lots of threads on here how to check. Quote
techno Posted August 24, 2011 Posted August 24, 2011 Sounds to me like theres something up, if the bike is used regularly there should be no need for a charger, even if you have an alarm.Ive never needed one ecept with the blade but that had a dodgy electrical system. Quote
Fozzie Posted August 26, 2011 Posted August 26, 2011 Thats one hell of a parking light to flatten a battery inside 2 hours If the bike is in warranty take it back to the garage and have a word. As it doesnt sound right in the slightest. However my CBR600RR had an issue similar to this but it had an alarm and that I imagine drained the battery over the course of a few days.Do you have any alarm or electrics running off the bike? Guest Posted August 28, 2011 Posted August 28, 2011 My Harley used to struggle to start with the OEM battery so I fitted an SVR batterya couple of years ago, I keep it on an Optimate charger when not in use and it has transformed turning over and starting 1340cc of engine. They are a bit more expensive but worth every penny a I no longer am wonderingif the battery has enough "go" to start my bike.
