Guest Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 Next month (20th November) my wife and I will be hosting a professional cleaning and ACF50 spray day with All Year BikerFor those who don't already know, ACF50 is an anti corrosion coating which helps keep the worst of the winter salt and crud off the bike, and helps it looking as nice and shiny as possible. Eleanor had her Ducati Monster done last year and, despite riding it all through winter, there's barely any corrosion on it at all. It's quite expensive stuff and can be difficult to apply, so (IMHO) it's well worth getting someone else to do a proper job. We're located in Farnborough (Hants) and the cost for the treatment (which includes a full clean as well as the protective coating) is about £60. You can book direct with the company via their web site - just PM me for the invitation code you'll need to attend.Cups of tea will be provided FOC Quote
Throttled Posted October 9, 2011 Posted October 9, 2011 How well do you find ACF50 stands up to cleaning with the likes of Muck Off? I found each time I cleaned my bike I needed to reapply the ACF50. Quote

If your bike has been properly treated with ACF50 then you shouldn't need to use Muc-Off to clean it. Cheap car shampoo and warm water will do the job just nicely. Remember to always thoroughly hose the bike off with cold water first in the winter to remove any salt/grit before you put warm water near it. Quote
JamieK Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 I spray loads on the front of the engine and painted any exposed metal Quote

The trick is NOT to use degreasing cleaners over winter - just rinse the worst of the road grime off the bike with a hose. The bike won't look fantastic, but as long as the ACF50 stays on it won't go rusty. Come the spring you can give the bike a thorough clean and it should come up sparkling. Quote
Throttled Posted October 10, 2011 Posted October 10, 2011 Thanks for that. I may have bought a duff can as it would come out gloopy and in spurts. I could never get an even cover. Quote
