Suzuki ay50 problems

Recommended Posts

Hi, i own a suzuki ay50 katana wrk1 (50cc moped)... I was ridin it home from work last nite, everything as usual and working as it usually does, when all of a sudden, all the lights went out, the engine cut out, and the rear brake locked itself causing me to skid to a stop

I spent 20 minutes getting it started again, then i drove down the road, only covered around 30 metres for the same thing to happen again :? ..

anybody have any ideas why it could be doing this?

many thanks

when you say it took 20 mins to get going did the engine turn over ok ?

Think what he is trying to say is check your oil, you might have seezed it,

you may be lucky, if motor still turns over then you "might" get away with it

nah the oil is fine. i always make sure it is always topped up. Could it be the cluth? Could the clutch rollers be worn out, causing there to be a flat spot which will cause the clutch to sieze which would explain why the rear wheel locked up?

did you hear any noises from around that area? it would be likely to start to

whine etc as it gets worn, more likely oil pump :? where I would be looking first

nah there were no noises coming from the clutch area... i had a family friend who is a mechanic look at it... We took the drive belt cover off, and the clutch/gerabox and drive belt all seemed fine... Then checked to make sure the spark plug was ok, and everything was fine.. Also checked to make sure the fuel line was ok, and that the fuel tap/filter wasnt blocked, and it all seemed fine too.. so the conclusion i came up with was that it is either the oil pump or that it has a cylinder/barell seizure maybe... im not sure if my bike has an oil pump though?? i think that it is gravity fed as its just a ped
