As a bolt was snapped, part of the shaft still remains with thread on however theres not enough room to squeeze a standard nut on there.

my question is can you get partly sunk nut that would fit through the header plate and bolt on for a temporary measure?

bikes an 03 fzs 600

You could try buying one, but you'd be better getting one made from a thicker than standard nut.

Header studs normally M6 thread. Sometimes M8. You will have to make yer own nut though?

I do not think there will be enough clearance between the header hole and the stud to accept any long shank nut, if you are lucky you could drill a hole in the stud and use an easy out, but exhaust studs can be a pig, I would heat it after drilling the hole and then use the extractor, failing that its take the headers off to get to it.
