yorbandit Posted January 3, 2012 Posted January 3, 2012 I have no interest in rideing the ring at all, i assume that you intend rideing it , but the trip is a plan will have to see what other stuff there is around there Quote
RiffmasterII Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 I have no interest in rideing the ring at all, i assume that you intend rideing it , but the trip is a plan will have to see what other stuff there is around there Yes I will most defiantely be hitting the ring but will also be having ride outs for sight seeing etc each each, best roads around in the black forest Quote
Matt Strange Posted January 4, 2012 Posted January 4, 2012 Hmmm, I'd say 100% yes but........The date coincides with the possible purchase of a new bike, which I wouldn't mind taking to the 'ring' with regards to the reliability, however not with the possibility of crashing it! . If I'm going to the ring, I want to ride fast & I don't think that's 100% sensible on a bike that you're not used to or confident riding.I'd much rather take my current Fireblade, as it currently owes me about a grand £££ (it was taken in kind for some work that I did instead of the money).I think she's worth about £1500 so no real worries about killing it! . I've done quite a few round trips of several hundred miles & had zero issues, I'm currently replacing the fuel/cooling hoses & a few other small bits like the clutch cable. It's fully serviced, good tyres etc, so no real worries about taking it to Germany, plus I've done over 3,000 miles on it.Arrghhh, dunno if I should keep the blade as a track bike? (i was going to use it as a deposit). Quote
RiffmasterII Posted January 4, 2012 Author Posted January 4, 2012 I feel your pain! Last time I went on the ring I had just traded my zx6r for the ZZR only a few weeks before. I took it very very easy around the track but still really enjoyed it. My advice is go with your heart as the head thinks too much! Quote

Ive just had a look on the route planner, the forest is a bit of a blat isnt it! I know that the ring has lots of great roads with views all around and was also looking at a trip to Luxembourg too, will have a look online at the other places you have suggested........thanks Quote
Matt Strange Posted January 8, 2012 Posted January 8, 2012 Almost a yes from me, I just need to inform my business partner & Brother that I may be off on those dates. He might even come along as he has a Fireblade too! (he's a pretty awesome rider, plus he's only 5'7'' & 11 stone. Any bike goes like a rocket with him on it). I can't get hold of him right now as I expect he's in the middle of a field somewhere with no phone signal!!.I'm going to be keeping the blade until late April/early May at least, currently & during the next week or two I'll be prepping it for potential long distance action! Matt Strange Posted January 9, 2012 Posted January 9, 2012 Bruv just needs to have a chat with the client that we'll be working for in April. so tomorrow it should be!. I checked my reg /rec today and the plugs on the wiring are in the early stages of melting! New reg/rec is on order :-/ (quite a common fireblade issue this, good job i checked!!)*edit* i can go, Bruv is staying in the UK because one of us needs to keep an eye on our job.I've got a pretty good mini tool kit, pocket multimeter, tyre plugger etc should there be any issues. RiffmasterII Posted January 12, 2012 Author Posted January 12, 2012 Ive got a few interested in this one if anybody else fancies it? Quote
Matt Strange Posted January 12, 2012 Posted January 12, 2012 I'll ask via good ol' "Facebonk" if any of my mates will be allowed to go by their bossy other halves.I doubt it, most get a nagging for going to the bike meets at the local pub! Quote
Matt Strange Posted January 25, 2012 Posted January 25, 2012 Well I've got my debit card issue sorted finally .I've got one friend interested who can actually come but he hasn't got a bike, just a slightly pimped G60 Corrado. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have him tagging along behind because, let's face it, he will be behind!!. I'll leave it up to you as it's not my trip so to speak & don't worry about saying no - Seriously, I don't think it's a good idea. I haven't said yes/no either way to him, it might be best to mention the difficulties in staying together for the trip & I personally don't want to have to hang around waiting for cars to play 'catch up'. It's bad enough on the 100 mile trip to Bournemouth!!.I suppose he could be 'support vehicle' & carry sh*tloads of our stuff for us . Shame he hasn't got a bike, he's one of the first people I met when I started school & I've known him for 28 or so years now ( ). Fantastic lad, but as I said, not a good idea for him to come for the practical reasons.P.S. what sort of com's do you have?. I have a standard bluetooth headset linked to my phone so i can receive calls, nothing else so far. Quote
RiffmasterII Posted January 26, 2012 Author Posted January 26, 2012 If he's happy mate he could always just meet us there, meet at the Ferry then its only just over 200 miles to the Ring, if everybody is happy we could do the whole trip in a day and he could meet as at the ring, Im happy either way. The more the merrier!with regards to comms I have an ipod docking station that Ive rigged up so I can listen to Metallica as loud as possible, other than that I find hand signals work most of the time! dex Posted January 26, 2012 Posted January 26, 2012 I've got one friend interested who can actually come but he hasn't got a bike, just a slightly pimped G60 Corrado. I'm not sure if it's a good idea to have him tagging along behind because, let's face it, he will be behind!! Do you mean on the transit across or around the 'ring? On the ring the vehicle counts for almost nothing - I was passing sportsbikes in my 37 year old car on my first (and only) trip to the NS. As for the trip over it pretty much depends how fast you expect to be cruising and how much traffic you hit. Remember he'll be filling up half as often as you.Out of interest - which hotel are you going to be staying in? Quote
Matt Strange Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 I was thinking more about traffic/filtering on the way, rather than the actual ring side of things. My first lap around it will be dead slow anyway.Re fuel: If I'm cruising then my bike will do at least 160 miles until reserve, then another 30 miles or so. I expect to fill up only once on each leg of the journey. Quote
Matt Strange Posted January 27, 2012 Posted January 27, 2012 Sat down the pub with 'Corrado Boy' now, he's not going to be able to make it now as he's on call for work that week now - just found out today *edit* now now now now, did i put enough nows in? Quote
RiffmasterII Posted February 5, 2012 Author Posted February 5, 2012 Slight chance on dates for this trip, its almost now confirmed as the 6th June to the 15th June. Trip is open to anybody with wheels, very flexible trip which is open to suggestions, the Ring is definitely on the cards and possibly the Alps. Quote
