Tango Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 2 fittings under the tank on the Fuel Pump Plate for Fuel feed and fuel return.....each have a male part (attached to pipe) and female part (that is attached to the Pump Plate). Now, I assumed that when I separated these connectors that the fuel would be shut off? So I was suprised when I got half a litre of fuel over my hand and engine until I managed to reconnect the fittings. I'm assuming that this should not be the case....but can anyone else here confirm whether I am right or not?Cheers Quote
davefly76 Posted January 22, 2012 Posted January 22, 2012 Do you have a reserve tap? I recently took the tank off my GSX, switched it to reserve, removed the relevant pipes, unclipped the tank sender connector and lifted the tank off. I was expecting some fuel to dribble out but got nothing Maybe the fuel you got covered in was just residual fuel from the pipes?? Quote

Looking at the connectors I'd expect them to shut the fuel off when they are separated....but they are not doing that.We had the tank off BonnieBird's bike today....and that had a good ol' fuel tap....so the tank came off a piece of p*ss.... Ah right..maybe you'd think so. I guess the fuel that came out was what was left in the pump..Don't you just hate it when that happens? It's not like petrol is cheap anymore! Might take a while to get started when you put it back together Quote
