Weebl Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 As above really, in the market for a decent lid, don't really want to buy online without at least trying on that make and model first, and I always like to give a shop a chance to match an online price (there or there abouts) before I dismiss them.I fancy a Shoei, no reason really other than they always had a good rep when I was younger and on bikes and now I am getting back into it they still seem to have a good rep.I am in Evesham, the 2 bike shops here don't stock Shoei, where would be a decent place worth looking? Thanks Quote
klingelton Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 I got mine from J&S - seemed like a nice bunch of lads, ready to help out where needed, but also didn't pounce on me the second i walked through the door and allowed me to choose what i wanted. In fact - a good shopping experience. They have stores all over the country. You've probably heard this a million times as well, but the best lid is not necessarily the brand, but the one that fits the best. Guest Hodgy Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Hein Gericke are really good too, always had excellent service from them Quote

Thanks, J&S seem to have a shop in Birmingham which is the closest to me, although not exactly next door. I agree about the fit, that is why I want to go to a shop and actually try them on, if I cannot get a comfy one, I shall look for something else. Hein Gericke are really good too Yep, I was going to go in to the Cheltenham shop but looking online it has been closed for over 2 months because of a fire? so again, the nearest is Brum. I was hoping for somewhere a bit closer to be honest (Brum is only 30 odd miles away but it is a nightmare to drive to, in and from.) I might have to tie it in to a shopping trip to the Bullring for her to make it worth it, bound to cost me more money though Quote
ses310 Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 Try the Motorcycle Mart in Kidderminster or there is Skellerns in Worcester, also the Honda dealer in Bromsgrove Quote
Tango Posted May 4, 2012 Posted May 4, 2012 BMF show in Peterborough in a couple of weeks time? Quote
Weebl Posted May 5, 2012 Author Posted May 5, 2012 I went to Frasers in Gloucester today, either my head has changed shape or Shoei have changed their design in the last 20 years as I just could not find a really comfortable one.I tried on some of the Shark range and they just felt really good. I liked the S600 and S700 ranges the most (which was weird, the cheapest ranges fit the best, normally I end up needing the most expensive, not the cheapest )They did not have the one I liked in my size in either range but I have found them on the net for quite a bit cheaper, are these generally considered good helmets? http://www.helmetcity.co.uk/Shark-S700S-Prime-White_0_0_3THUN.jpg Quote
OhJay Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 Shark have a fairly good rep but I've not had any personal contact with that model.http://sharp.direct.gov.uk/Look up the Sharp rating, not a perfect measure but it's as good as we've got to go on. Quote
Fast Eddie Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I think those two shark helmets both get 4* in the sharp tests. I was after the 700 but don't have a shark shaped head. Luckily the HJC i bought is really comfy. Quote
Guest Posted May 5, 2012 Posted May 5, 2012 I am looking for a helmet too. On Tuesday I shall be taking my theory test and if successful will go to Swindon Mega Motorcycle Store to treat myself. They appear to sell helmets for nearly half the rrp. Can this be for real? I'm thinking that a £200 helmet for £100 would be all singing and dancing. Quote
