Throttled Posted May 23, 2012 Posted May 23, 2012 Bought May 2012 from J&S, £50 for the jacket and £100 for the trousers.http://www.sport-mall.co.uk/fotocache/bigorig/ART06220.jpgGOOD- very comfy, especially in warm weather with the vents open.- CE armour shoulders, elbows, knees as standard.- feels well made with heavy duty denim and linings.- the jacket is very cheap for what you get.- nice solid zip to attach the jacket to the trousers. MEDIUM- you have to buy CE armour for the hips and back as an extra. The hip armour is £24 and the back takes any medium sized back protector. - the knee armour feels a bit small compared to my other RST denims.- there is a big zip at the bottom of the trousers to get them over boots, but if it is wet and you want to tuck them into your boots it is uncomfortable. BAD- there is only one inside pocket and it is a bit small.I like the style and being different from leathers and textiles. Quote
Guest Posted June 16, 2012 Posted June 16, 2012 Got this jacket and thought it was very good value. Also have Red Route denim trousers which have Kevlar linings. Maybe not a s good as armour but ok maybe for short rides/town riding? What's your thoughts?CheersJack Quote
Dippy Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Ooooooooooh I LIKE that Love `traditional' looking leather gear, but I love denim too & would be great on short runs in nicer weather .... Do they make this in ladies extra teensy sizes I wonder, shall google..(not that we get much of that here ) Quote
Dippy Posted June 17, 2012 Posted June 17, 2012 Is weird the jacket being so much dearer than the trousers though isn't it ? Leather jackets are usually considerably more than the trousers. Quote
Bonniebird Posted June 18, 2012 Posted June 18, 2012 I have Red Route ladies kevlar lined black denim jeans with knee protectors - they are good for trip to the shops or a local bimble but I'm not sure I'd trust them on a longer, faster run. Picked them up for about £20 at last year's BMF, I think. I'd agree with the comment on the zipThe waist-band is pretty big compared to the hip size but I'm quite an 'in and out' shape so I need to wear it with a belt Quote
Throttled Posted June 18, 2012 Author Posted June 18, 2012 I wear a belt with mine and had real problems getting trousers to fit as the was a massive difference between sizes. I do not think that whoever makes them does a very good job sizing them (so my wife commented when trying them on). I have been back into my textiles because of the bad weather and they feel so inflexible and uncomfortable now. I know what you say about long runs, but in terms of comfort and still protecting the vital bits, my preference is the denims. I do wonder if people look at me and think, nutter not wearing any protective gear! Quote
