there is not much difference for you as far as i understand with the new law. so get your 125, try it out and then you can make a decision

If you want to do your test on the 125 then you'll have to do it before January. If you do that then you'll be restricted for 2 years and then that's it, restriction gone. If you do your test on a 125 after January then you'll only be allowed to ride a 125 until you do your test again on the big bike.

If you're happy doing the test on a big bike then it doesn't matter. You're old enough you can do it after the changes as well, just means you'd have to do it on a 600 instead of the 500 you're allowed to do it on now :)

After jan 2013 can i still ride a 125 on L plates with just cbt ?

Is it cutting it a bit close now to do the tests and pass on a 125 considering winters coming and have no doubt training schools are very very busy as well ?

Should the price of a secondhand 125 go up next year after Jan 2013 ?

Yes, CBT rules aren't changing. 125 on L plates for 2 years, no pillion, no motorway

Possibly. Depends if you do lessons or an intensive week. The closer it gets to January the quicker test slots are going to get booked up so get in touch with a school and see what they can do and what they can get. Don't forget if you're doing it on a 125 you can book it yourself and jump on cancellations quick 'coz you can just ride down there, you don't need to borrow a bike and instructor :)

Not especially, I don't think. Learners will still want them. I can't see anyone bothering to take tests on 125 since all that will ever qualify you to ride is a 125 but CBT'ers will still want them.
