Failed mod 1

BS man.

First of all, my instructor was taking another guy for his mod 2 at 1230, so from 9-1230 we were on the roads doing mod 2 shit

then I got an hour of mod 1 training.

I think i did fine, but I was too slow on the emergancy stop apparently. My digital speedo said 32 first time (what id been told to aim for) and 35 the 2nd time. because he said I went too slow the first time!

He said they both clocked at 44kph ! HOW IS THAT POSSIBLE!

Ignore the speedo, you don't get enough time to look at it.

Open it up to what feels about right. A couple of practises and you should get it easily.

My instructor had booked the mod 1 track for an hour for me to practise on on the morning of my test...

I didnt even look at the speedo, I just came round the corner in third and opened it up when I straightened up off the bend

yea i did have the mod two booked.

well, if i just give it full throttle in third gear ill be easily at 35-40 out of the corner, but can they fail you for going too fast?

ive re booked both tests for april 3rd.

ive also insured the bike so i can use it, its only a 500 so ill be on the 500 only license (which is fine for now)

im going to have to get my mate to drive it up to the test center tho

1 - they cant fail you but it makes it harder (obviously)

2 - not full throttle, and not on the corner, itself, I come round the bend about 20 probably, bottom of third gear, straight it up in line with the cones, then gun it for that burst of speed for the trap, soon as you hit the trap you can start to back off a bit

You can do both tests same day?? I thought you had to leave it a bit.

You know if you cancel a test with 3 working days notice then you dont get charged - thats why my school always book MOD1 one week, MOD2 the next, so if you do fail (which I did) you don'ty lose your MOD 2 fee, just a MOD 1 resit charge.

Adds a week onto the time it takes but it could save a bundle of cash....

if i put l plates on can i ride to the test center (20 miles away) or my mate is insured to ride any bike so could he ride with me as pillion?

You can't ride it without an instructor

He can ride it but his policy will most likely say he has third party cover to ride any other bike AS LONG AS that bike is already insured for personal use by another person, so you would still have to insure the bike. Easiest is probably insure yourself and add him as a second rider, mgiht even bring you insurance down a few quid.

Also not sure if he will be insured to carry pillion, guess it depends on the small print and if he has pillion cover on his own bike (or if you have pillion cover, if you add him as a second rider)

Also check the dvla small print about using their own bike they might want to see additional documentation and/or insurance cover

Keep it in second gear. You will have better acceleration and then better engine braking when you roll off the throttle.

Ive re booked the test for april 3rd in Bangor. (both test same day)

Ill have to try find somewhere to practise the slow riding on my bike, its a ninja500 and has a long turning circle...
