Guest Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 had been sat for 2 years, rode it home and it overheated and not been able to start her up since.i think the engine is still good, ive stripped and cleaned carbs, bought a new battery, but i have zero power to the bike (lights, neautral light, indicators)tried jump starting with car, tried push bump starting....nothing, nada.i have a blown 20amp fuse, could that be the reason for their being no power for the bike to turn over...is it an important fuse.i also thought i might have blown the main fuse (50amp) but have spent around 2 hours trying to find it to no avail.help appreciated.p.s. i bought some 20amp fuses (20mm) but they were too small....should i get 30mm? borgy95 Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 I had a GPZ500 so it may not be quite the same but...There was one fuse box which was next to the battery. All fuses are important! If you have a haynes manual that is your best bet to understand the electronic workings of your bike. If you got your google wizardry on i'm sure you might be able to find the wiring schematics. And yes change that fuse with one that fits. The main thing is having the ampage correct, if it kinda fits but is in place nice and tight i wouldn't worry too much. J Quote

eastanglianbiker Posted May 14, 2013 Posted May 14, 2013 the gpz was never the best bike to start with im sorry to say but as stu says ive never known a 50 amp fuse on them 20 amp in the side of the starter solinoid very often thats about as big as they need to be and that will be a balde fuse like a car very often Quote
