Spooks007 Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 Hi all I am as about much use as chocolate teapot when it comes to mechanical work. On the XJ6 they have folding mirror which are very useful for the tight space I have to park it. However the nearside one has become a bit loose. Any suggestions on how this can be tightened up. I am sure a novice like me can do this!!!!Thanks Spooks Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 if it has got a big rubber boot over the stem where its bolted to fairing if it has one there will be a large allen bolt with nut below you can tighten if its fixed to handlebar then you willl need to tighten the nut thats touching the clamp where it is screwed in failing that post a pic Quote

eastanglianbiker Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 yep thats it if you pop that cap out there will either be a big allen key headed bolt or a standard headed bolt that can be tightened up slightly might only need a tiny turn to stop it spinning Quote
YamahaWolf Posted June 20, 2013 Posted June 20, 2013 I have a Diversion myself. You will find the tools you will need in your little tool kit that comes with the bike. Quote
Spooks007 Posted June 21, 2013 Author Posted June 21, 2013 I took the plastic cap off and this is what I found any ideas lolhttp://i1188.photobucket.com/albums/z403/Welshspooks/IMAG0362_zpsde042a31.jpg Quote
YamahaWolf Posted June 21, 2013 Posted June 21, 2013 (edited) Maybe you have a tool in your tool kit that tightens it. Edited June 22, 2013 by YamahaWolf Quote
Spooks007 Posted June 22, 2013 Author Posted June 22, 2013 Just taken to the local Yam dealer and there is no bolt to tighten them, so in the end had to pay for a new mirror. Lucky for me he had one in stock that was out of packet and got it fitted for £20 Bargain!!! Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted June 22, 2013 Posted June 22, 2013 sounds like a result well done cant grumble at that price Quote
