Robik Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Strategy for Mod 1 and Mod 2..Ok now I have the cbt and bike theory out the way, I need a plan for Mod 1 and Mod 2.I am trying to get as much practice as I can on the cbr125 (but the more the better), however I understand the regs have changed. I am over 25 and my aim is to get a sports 600 (mostly like cbr600, as this has always been one of my favourite bikes). It seems that my 125 bike would not be allowable in either Mod 1 or Mod 2, so this means having to get another bike for the test. However, I can't ride it there? I guess this is why people do the DAS?Ummm, any tips/suggestions from the tmbf community? Thanks Quote
al_stu Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 go to a school. get some training. they will have MOD1 courses to practise on. They will give you their bike for the test, and you can ride it their as you will be on 'L's and accompanied by an instructor.Job done. Quote
Robik Posted July 11, 2013 Author Posted July 11, 2013 Very good advice, thanks. However for this I am looking at around £600 (for Mod 1 and Mod 2 training, not sure if this includes the test fees), which is more than I really wanted to spend on reaching the full licence. Just wondered if anyone else has taken a different route? I don't mean to sound like I am cutting corners, just looking at all my options Thanks all. Quote
Tango Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 Hmmmm.....it's not a cost....it's an investment..... Quote
Tango Posted July 11, 2013 Posted July 11, 2013 I like investments When you're sitting on that 600 you'll see what we mean....... Quote
mailee66 Posted July 13, 2013 Posted July 13, 2013 £600 ha, I should have been so lucky. I hadn't ridden a bike since the 70's and had to have a few lessons for my licence. All together including my theory and CBT I spent about £1500 on getting my licence! Now i have been on the road with my own bike it was worth every penny. As the above poster stated look on it as an investment and a way to make sure you are safe in modern traffic. Quote
