Personally I'd go for Kriega stuff.......some of these panniers and tailpacks with rain covers aren't very waterproof....whereas my Kriega tailpack survived some biblical rain in Wales last Whitsun without letting a drop inside......but it comes at a cost..... I also have an Ortlieb drysac which I picked up at a bike show fairly cheaply which is also completely waterproof, but needs straps or bungees to hold it on the bike......

Another alternative is what one of my colleagues does on his FZ1....he bought a secondhand seat fairly cheap and also a top box and base....then screwed the base to the seat. So when he goes touring he swaps to his "touring seat" and puts the topbox on there.....and when he's not touring he puts the standard seat back on....he says it works a treat......

Not really bothered about the waterproof aspect as I was planning to pack my kit in canoe bags then put into the panniers, how much do these kriega cost tango? An no affence but the seat idea sounds a little tacky :D

The Kriega bags come in different capacities and can be joined together for flexibility..... 8-)

Yeah, the Topbox thing was a lash......but he said that at the end of a days riding all he had to do was unlock the box from the base and carry it into the hotel or place he was staying.......nice and easy.....but I was just throwing a couple of ideas at you that could be possibilities..... 8-)
