Hi im new to all this so sorry if i mention something Already covered elsewhere also sorry if i have posted in the wrong place.

I recently collected an old 1983 gs125 es and initially i had no electrics i put a new battery on and checked the fuse but still nothing. after a bit of WD40 in the ignition barrel as advised on another forum i'm back in business all electrics seem to be working fine eg lights indicators horn etc.

after tinkering a bit straigtening things out ive noticed that the glas is broken on the rev counter and the handlebars are bent any sugestions on where i can get replacements for theese parts im reluctunt to hit them to hard in an attempt to straighten them as the brake fluid resevoir is to close to the bend for my likeing. also ive noticed that it is intimitantly sticking i.e. sometimes i can select 1st through to 5th then when i come back down it wont go into 1st after a bit of persistance of going up and down the gears it goes in to first then wont go above 2nd any ideas as to what might be the cause of this. all help gratefully recieved.

first thing is ther are lots of different handlebars will fit the bike the rev counter glass being broken is a bit harder to solve unless you find a rev counter on ebay and use that and as for gears have you checked oil levels and clutch adjustment,might need oil change and clutxh adjusting also if its been sat arounda long time it wil be worth oiling the cables up as they will dry out and start to stick over time causing t he clutch to drag slightly and same with all the cables

Have looked around and cant seem to find the same clocks as mine do you know if the GN 125 clocks will fit as they are round instead of square and look a lot better if I'm honest

no reason why they wont fit the rev counter has the same internals and the speedo is the same as well just in different casing you might need to modify mouning bracket unless you get the gn one as well

managed to straighten out the handlebars and found a set of original clocks as the speedo was fine and didnt want to change the mileage on bike mot passed taxed, insured and carrying me to work and back

It's looking good mate.....but may be worth investing in a new set of bars.....just to be on the safe side.....

they was only slightly bent metal wasnt creased but yes it is on my priority list of things to change thanks

bars will have been stressed at the bend point so as tango says replace with a set of bars like flat renthals wont change riding position to much then
