jnr_zx6r Posted May 31, 2014 Posted May 31, 2014 I have just purchased a de cat link pipe for my bike after reading the advantages it gives these bikes, especially below 8k RPM. Just wondering if anyone has ever fit one of these before? Any tips you could give for the install as I know from what I have read they can be a fiddle to link up etc.I will be investing in a PC5 in the future to gain the full potential of the de cat but again from what I have read you can still notice a significant difference especially in exhaust tone lol Quote
hadster Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Hi mate, I have an AKRO link pipe with Yoshi can, bought the bike with it on so not too sure of the advantages, I gather the weight saving is fair and read you could gain about 7-10hp, not got a PC5 but assume one may be required to see these kind of gains! When you roll off the throttle it pops and splutters like a superbike, bloody love it! Hold the revs at 5k and it sounds like a bike on the limiter in the pit lane. Awesome Quote
Joeman Posted June 1, 2014 Posted June 1, 2014 Been looking at getting one for my S1000.The standard cat weighs a ton. Quote
jnr_zx6r Posted June 4, 2014 Author Posted June 4, 2014 Cheers for the info. Yes I did hear that it makes a considerable noise difference to the exhaust and that's what I want too as mine isn't as loud as I would like it to be. I ride with a mate who has a full Akro system on his KTM superduke and can't hear mine next to his when started lolI did get told you do gain even without the PC but can be more with it. Don't know if it's worth the £300 + for maybe a few more bhp?The main thing I am hoping is it improves the torque line throughout the revs as the zx10's lack it below 8k RPM. Mine comes alive big time above this I got my pipe from Dan Moto, have a look on their website as they do parts for all bikes Quote
hadster Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 Im maybe looking to drop a tooth at the front and up two at the rear, limits to 169 mph but improves the low down a touch. Quote

So i may just opt for a full system.... Quote

Guest Posted June 4, 2014 Posted June 4, 2014 The catalytic converters are inside the headers (down pipes) the large box your removing is the collector box it helps prevent back firing & popping on back off because the bike has a clean air system fitted to again help keep emissions down. When you remove this you also remove the butterfly valve which is connected to the servo motor under your seat this will then ive you a FI fault (the red flashing light on your clocks) you will need to buy & fit a servo buddy to stop this. I am currently selling on gumtree a full system which is here. http://www.gumtree.com/p/cars-vans-moto ... 1065337066 Quote
jnr_zx6r Posted June 5, 2014 Author Posted June 5, 2014 I have the same exhaust as you and now excited to get this fitted lolI have got a mate now who is going to help me and he was saying about the light that will come on. I can't wait to see how it goes.I was thinking of changing the sprockets again as I did this on my 600 but was warned it will sit up very easily lol Quote
hadster Posted June 5, 2014 Posted June 5, 2014 I think it will be very wheelie happy to be honest, but would be nice for a little bit more low down grunt Quote
jnr_zx6r Posted June 21, 2014 Author Posted June 21, 2014 Finally after waiting 15 days for it to be delivered by decat pipe from Danmoto is on. After a using a bit of exhaust filler for the slight blowing it fitted and treat and the heat shield went straight back on but had to buy some new nuts and bolts.Started it up and it's ridiculously loud but I love it. I only reed it to about 4 or 5k and it pops, bangs and spits flames.First test ride on it tomorrow and I'll make the decision weather to buy a PC or not Quote
jnr_zx6r Posted June 23, 2014 Author Posted June 23, 2014 Test ride went very well. Exhaust sounds mental and back fires a lot. Power wise is defiantly up, especially on lower revs with it picking up quicker.Anyone thinking of doing this I highly recommend it Quote
