Wiring in a switch

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi All,

I have started accumulating a few gadgets here and there on my bike, i have recently got one of the inforad M1 speed camera detectors however it is recommended unlike my other gadgets that it isnt wired directly to the batter as it will drain it and as such needs to be connected inline with another loom or such else.

I have been reading around and somewhere i saw that someone had wired in a relay switchable box so it could not only be switched on and oflf directly but also would engage and switch on with the ignition. Now i dont necessarily need something this detailed but just wondered if anyone uses switches what they have used.

many thanks

I think a relay will be easier than a switch

you can run a relay off something like the rear lights so it will only come on with the ignition

unless you want the ability to turn it on and off as you ride along?

this may help a little :)

where the valet switch is this is where you would run the wire from the switched live

....rear lights etc

did an inline switch for my heated grips... if they are wired directly from the battery theres a chance they will drain slowly... couldn't be arsed with figuring out how to wire them into an ignition relay... so just used a simple inline switch

I have just bought a simple rocker switch from eBay to use I want to sort out a better circuit at some point but I am riding down to Devon soon and don't have time to get it complete or take risks I mess something up rushing the process

What this guy has done looks exactly what I need I just need the time to get parts and figure it out
