I'm looking at buying one of these, got around 1,200 saved now looking at pushing 1,000 tops. I've read up on them and multiple threads say different things.

Heard people have had next to no problems but some have had expensive engine issues etc etc

Anybody fancy helping me out?

engine problems arise due to lack of care normally like running them out of oil or on very cheap 2 stroke oil and thrashing them from cold instead of allowing the engine to warm slightly

Looks really risky at the state of some of these for sale on Gumtree in my area.

Some are good but push up in the 2,000 region, going to end up fixing up before I insure.

two strokes are always a little delicate, so expect to have to rebuilt the topend at some point in its life.

Rebuild, is that easy for someone with 0 skills to learn from youtube/etc etc or would I have to pass it on to a mate who'll do it

back in the good old days, before the days of internet, most 16year old lads knew how to rebuilt the top end of a two stroke motor with crappy old set of tools.... valuable survival skills lost in the modern age...
