Newb Warning! Cracked pipe going into cylinder?

Hi all, nice to be finally registered.

Please bear with me as I don't possess much bike know-how!

I have some serious issues with my (badly made Taiwanese) 125cc motorbike. The bike all of sudden has started dying at idle and doesn't tick over evenly. It does seem to ride okay at higher speeds though.

I took off the side fairing yesterday to try fault find. On the cylinder just below the spark plug, there is a steel pipe (it's not the exhaust) it has rusted completely through and when you rev the bike you can feel hot air/gas leaking from it. So I guess I found my problem, however, does anyone know what this pipe is? I don't know much at all but I'm presuming it is is air/fuel going into the cylinder? Further up it goes into a rubber tube which looks like it may route around to the carb.

What is this hot air? Unburnt fuel or just air? And, would this explain the issues I am having? (It's quite obvious.. I guess). I apologise for the lack of knowledge here and appreciate any responses!

Thankyou!

Welcome to TMBF mate.....pop over to the newbies section and introduce yourself to the folks on here when you get a chance.... 8-)

Not sure mate, but I suspect it may be exhaust air admittance....which is part of the emissions control. If this is the case, then any holes in this pipe could cause rough running..... :?
