Adam Posted August 24, 2014 Posted August 24, 2014 I broke down today (see my other thread) RAC guy reckons it is the coil pack however the guy that picked me up reckons it's fuel starvation. The symptoms are: It starts and idles fine, when on full throttle fine, it started to stutter and cough when I let go and reapplied the throttle and I mean the bike was jerking about but after 2-3 seconds it would be fine again until I released the throttle. Any ideas? Biker that picked me up suggested checking the fuel flow from the tank to the injector. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 25, 2014 Posted August 25, 2014 check the fuel filter if its got one and also the air filter might be clogged from all the dusty dry weather we have had Quote
Adam Posted August 25, 2014 Author Posted August 25, 2014 Had the air filter off at the side of the road didn't help, fuel filter is first on my list of attack. Quote
Adam Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 Well well well, she's running properly again Fuel cap overflow was blocked so water was seeping into the fuel tank hence the bogging down etc. Emptied the tank and put some fresh fuel in and she's running fine now. Quote
Adam Posted August 26, 2014 Author Posted August 26, 2014 After removing the fuel cap after some heavy rain. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 How is the rain water getting in to the tank? There is no way it will get in through the cap (if fitted properly). You need to sort that or it will happen again. Quote
Adam Posted August 28, 2014 Author Posted August 28, 2014 It was collecting in the section around the cap and when I opened it it dribbled in. Quote
eastanglianbiker Posted August 28, 2014 Posted August 28, 2014 it would normally get in around the outer ridge of the cap gog and then there is the vent/drain built into the lip of the tank to drain water vent tank and it was that which got blocked Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted August 29, 2014 Posted August 29, 2014 OK - Not something I have ever come across before. Quote
