Instrument panel light replacement / upgrade

Hi all.

The rev counter lights are out on my ZZR1200, and as I was hunting around on t'internet to see how tricky a job it would be to replace them I came across this upgrade. Pretty cool huh? The thread I got the image from was American and years old, and I haven't found any UK-based info on this. Can anyone point me in the right direction?

Is replacing the instrument lights a simple job? I imagine I'll have to dismantle the front fairing and replace some gaskets to keep it waterproof, but other than that no idea!

Not sure but the gaskets should just be rubber and you'll probably get away with using the same ones again. Easy job just a bit fiddly.

the bulbs are normally sset in their own rubber boot so you dont dismantle the clocks just pull the rubber boot out of the rear o them change bulb and refit into clocks,chances are they will be a pain to get to

Long explanation short, as there are bulbs, you would imagine access won't be too bad as bulbs are a consumable item!

All you have to do is get the clocks loosened off so you can get to the back of them.

You will likely have rubber circular grommets with 501 bulbs in them.

They just pull out if you grab the grommet and maybe a gentle tug on the 2 wires going in there.

Replace them out for a colour you like.

On more modern bikes you have to swap out SMD's on a circuit board, so I'm hoping yours is as simple as the picture makes out.

Have a tinker, it won't hurt!

Thanks guys - I'll have a poke around when I get a minute. I figured if I pull it apart to replace one bulb I may as well go the whole hog and replace them all.
