Battery going flat while riding

Recommended Posts

Hi,

I started my bike(ER-500 A4) as normal, rode about 15miles and firstly my rev counter stopped working then about a mile down the road when i stopped at a junction the engine cut out and wouldn't re-start as the battery was flat, I jump started the bike from my dads car and it lasted about 5 miles before the rev counter stopped working, the lights became dim and the engine cut out, this time at about 50mph, this happened another 2 times following jump starts before i finally managed to get home. Is it the battery that has had it or is there a fault on the bike causing the battery to loose its charge?

Thanks in advance.

Welcome to TMBF mate........pop over to the Newbies section and introduce yourself to the guys when you can..... 8-)

Battery not charging........most likely a duff Reg/Rec or Stator........or possibly both........

Regulator/Rectifier ?

Apparently there are 6 and 5 wire versions

I had the same on my old ER-5.

The regulator/Rectifier was faulty and fried my battery as well.

Changed both and no more charging problems.
