I have removed the casing that holds the oil pump, changed the pump and bolted it back in place.My father in law says it will require sealant once removed. Is this true? Any special sealant?

'Red' Hermitite will suffice.

Just smear around the faces of the metal on the ajoining faces.

Not usually required on 'new' bikes with perfect joints or where there is a decent (i.e. new) gasket or seal.
