Speeding

Just got back from my speed awareness course.

whilst on it I found out I shouldn't have been on it and told that if I can email them a copy of my letter stating my speed was below 35mph

I will get my course fee's refunded.

But as I'm not sure I've definitely got the letter still, I had to finish the course to prove I'd attended!

Hope to god the letter is still at home

A few years ago, after i split with my ex, i went over to try and talk to her and it ended in a massive argument, quite obviously raging i was speeding pretty much all the way home, late at night not much on the roads, most of the journey was fast 60mph A roads, however going through a town 30mph limit i was doing closer to 70, blue lights on behind me......me sat there thinking oh cock it theres a waste of money.

Copper starts off "Have you got any idea why we've pulled you?"

Me : Probably the fact i was speeding.

C:was there any reason you were speeding?

M: I've had a proper shit day and just had a massive argument with the ex, i just want to get home so i can have a beer and forget this day happened.

C:starts long drawn out speech about what i was doing was dangerous blah blah.

I stood there listening to him thinking just give me the ticket and let me go, he turned round and said well today's just got a bit better for you, we have no camera equipment therefore cant prove anything, so get home.

i could have hugged him, however i shook both their hands and was on my way. Think he might have actually felt sorry for me as i had admitted i'd been speeding.

I've been pulled twice

Once I was driving like a loon in a hire car. I didn't argue, was polite and got a bit of bollocking about it being a red route, and told if he caught me again id be in deep doo-doo then was sent on my way. He'd been following me for a while and it was a fair shout. I fully deserved a ticket that day.

The other was an ass. He claimed I was doing over 40mph, which I wasn't, plus he was 3 cars back so love to know how he got a camera on me! id just shot off the line from the lights and he said I was chasing another police car that had gone through on blues and twos a minute ago, in fact I was trying to get ahead of the car next to me so I could turn right at the next traffic lights where home was 100m away. Yes I could have waited and dropped in behind but I didn't want to. He was a twat. Would have loved to argue but couldn't get a word in edgeways then he said he was on an urgent job (so why stop me in the first place? Also he had no lights or siren on) And he shot off down the road. People like that give police officers a bad name.

My sister got caught in an average speed section doing 33 in a 30. She got sent to a speed awareness course.

On the course the majority of the people were whining because 'they'd only done 32/3/4 in a 30'. The copper in no uncertain terms told them they were full of bullshit as if there speedo was reading that speed they wouldn't be sat there. To have got the ticket there speedo must having been reading almost 40 through the section.

As for scamera vans just inside 30 limits....the speed limit signs are fairly visible from a fair distance away....shouldnt people be breaking earlier?

I'm no saint but using just a smidge of common sense has kept my licence clean for almost 15 years.

I've no idea what my speedo was saying as I'd been distracted for a moment by my son. Saw the camera and just thought, god what speed am I doing.

It was the speeding ticket I got through told me I was doing 34 mph.
