Still own it. My trusted 1998 Honda CB500. Owned, rode and sold lots of different bikes over the years but could never bring myself to sell the CB. Plenty of fast enough for me (110MPH head down). Incredibly reliable. Cheap to insure (65 quid this year with no NCD!). Good enough MPG (60 if i'm been really careful). Masses of spares. A close second would be my ancient 1985 Kawasaki GPZ305 which i was given. Me and my dad dragged it out of a hedge that had grown around it jumped it off the car and it ran! The cam chain rattled that much it ate through the cam chain tunnel but it was just such a fun little bike to ride. Cheers, Shaun.

I think that's a little bit unfair. Not all coppers abuse their position of power. Wherever there is a position of power there is always going to be those who abuse it. Take your example of driving away from a blue light. Is that not an abuse of a power? By riding off could your actions not also result in your own or someone elses death? Completely agree. We've become a nation of snowflakes and we're starting to reap what we've sown.

Hi, All very good in principle but your thinking from a law abiding citizens view point. The scum who steal bikes couldn't care less if their seen and subsequently chased by the police. They know they can 99% of the time out ride the police car, loose him through a cutting or park or if the chase becomes too dangerous they know the police will call it off. Not for one minute will the scum pull over for the police just because they flashed their blue lights at them. Every day riding through Grimsby i see mopeds 3 up and no helmets. These kids/ teenagers/ adults simply don't care. IF (Big bloody if) caught they get a slapped wrist and out again to steal someone else pride and joy. What needs to change is the mentality of these people...But that is never going to happen. They have and never will have respect for themselves anyone else or anyone else property. And they certainly have no respect for the law. My personal opinion is the police need more power,more resources and sentences need to be tougher. Knock them off the bike if they ride off. So what if they don't have a helmet. They made their choices so must face the consequences. Unfortunately the countries far too liberal with far too many do gooders. That nasty police man knocked him off he wasn't hurting anyone. They had a difficult upbringing. Their a Love-able rogue (My personal favourite). Cheers, IM.

Hi, Managing an aircraft stores i get Dinitrol AV25 come up SLE....And rather than dispose of it i take the odd can home. Paints on and dries like wax. When i stopped riding 5 years ago i painted most of the metal parts with the stuff and left the bike in the garden uncovered. Fast forward to October 2019 i stripped it all off with paraffin and there was barely any rust. Once again all the exposed metal parts are painted in it ready for the winter commute. Prior to getting my free stuff i used to use ACF.....Another great product just bloody expensive! Cheers, Shaun.

Hey, Got a few stories. As a kid me, my brother and my sister used to sleep over quite often at my Nan and Grandads. My Grandad sleep walked and sleep ate almost every night and we often heard him in the kitchen cupboards. Even after his death we used to hear the sound of cupboards opening in the middle of the night and movement in the kitchen. When one of us plucked up the courage to go look see(all the lights on as we went!) we never found anything. Again shortly after my Grandads death my Nan and mum where talking and I was standing with them. My Nan was still deeply upset. There was a picture of my Grandad in a frame standing on the side, the type of frame that leans quite far back. The frame toppled forward top to bottom. There was no breeze and no one was near it. My dad told me the night his dad died he was laid in bed when he heard clearly spoken in his ear 'it's all over now son'. Im not a complete believer in the paranormal but I've certainly seen and heard things that I couldn't find a rational explanation for. I suffer from severe depression and i know when things are about to take a turn for the better as I always hear a whistle... Not from my head but from a corner of a room I'm in. Scary but oddly comforting. I'd like to belive its someone watching out for me...... Shaun.

Joys of working in Aviation Stores. The amount of SLE POL that simply gets discarded is crazy! I've got a huge box of Solvent, Aeroshell Greases, paint and sealant. Plus some more specialised items for water and rust inhibiting etc. Not sure I'd want to use Grease on my chain when a can of proper chain lube is so cheap! Shaun.

Hey, My lad when he was a baby and before he could talk used to sit following something or someone around the room. He also used to sit, steer and smile as if someone was stood by the fireplace. When he started babbling he pointed one day and said 'Man' which was kind of creepy. We also used to hear footsteps etc on the baby monitor. There's also been other occurancies.....one night I walked into the kitchen and automatically stepped over a black 'something' laid on the floor....... When my dad lived here something used to turn off his phone charger. He said he actually heard it switch ofg one night. Never bothered me. The house has a nice relaxed feeling. A good atmosphere. IM

Hey, I don't trust garages or mechanics as far as I could throw them and i sure as hell aent paying there labour rates. Only go there at MOT time. Not my car but my mums....went in for cam chain replacement. Came out with timing completely wrong and EML on due to a broken TPS. My Sei....Quote for head gasket replacement...£400.....did it myself for £100 including Skim all belts and consumables and good quality gasket. My Corsa....quote for water pump change...£300....cost me £75 including a good set of Torx bits. Buy a Haynes manual/ join a forum, buy some tools and do it yourself. IM

Hey, Dating sites are a numbers game. Send out 50 messages get x amount replies. Talk to replies briefly. Propose a date. I seperated from my GF and within 2 days had 3 dates lined up. One has become quite serious...almost GF material lol I've only used POF. I think using a paid site 'may' provide better people as you've got to pay! Hey, Found a much easier solution. I bought some power line network plugs and the speed is great! Plugged in and working within 30 seconds. Besides he's gf is an annoying overbearing PITA so I'll soon be moving out! Thanks for all the advice, Shaun.

Hi, Just split up with my GF so she's moved out with the kids and my dads moves in with his GF......great Anyway as such I've now just got a double room. What ID like to do is move the VM router to my room so I can have everything wired rather than wireless. As luck would have it the little brown VM box is right outside my window. Is it possible to unscrew the current cable which runs to the living room, screw on a new extension, feed it through the window and reattach the router? I don't want to ask virgin media as they want nearly 100 quid! Thanks in advance? IM

Hi, Been reading all the comments.....if only I was the vindictive type ID be having a whale of a time! I sure wouldn't want to be some of yours neighbours and get on your bad side! There's no talking to the guy. He's the type of person who shouts over the top of you repeating the same thing ie 'it aent your property'. He really is a grade A w*nker of the highest order. Everyone who has lived here has had run ins with him sometimes on a weekly basis. Spoke to my old man and turns our he's had enough of the guys attitude too so is binning him \o/ so next time he gives me agro I'll remind him his attitude cost him 75 quid a month lol My lad was outside earlier playing with the garden hose and gave his fence a thorough soaking lol extra pocket money is in order ! Hi, Unfortunately (or fortunately) I don't pay him the 75 quid a month he charges to do 10 minutes gardening a week! I've been thinking about removing his access but unsure how to go about it.....could I use the removal of implied right of access letter that is used for balliffs etc? I've also seen a 'warning of tresspass' letter which basically tell them if they come onto the land again there tresspassing and will be immediatly reported to the police. Cheers, IM

Hi, TMBF BBQ will be held in the summer lol prize for the loudest exhaust! Free bike wash against the fence! I think what annoyed me most was his attitude. I'm a quiet guy and avoid confrontation where possible and me and my family keep ourselves to ourselves. If he had approached me with some manners I would have been understanding. Least I know my rights now so shall be telling him in no uncertain terms to do one next time he cones round.I think because he owns his house he feels he has some power over us. Cheers, Shaun

Hey, Just after a bit of advise and you guys seem fairly clued up on most things. I'm currently living in house that my dad and my auntie joint own. They employ the next door neighbour as the gardener. This guy is a self righteous prick. When I first moved in he moaned as I slightly wet the fence whilst washing my bike. I took it on the chin as I didn't want to cause a problem... However in hindsight I should have asked what he thinks happens if it rains? Tonight my car was ticking over for 5 minutes in the drive when I hear a loud bang on the window.....I had been doing some wiring inside the car and was worried about the battery going flat. He said 'turn that off'. So i said 'no' and asked him to leave the property. At this pointing he says 'Its not your property'. I told him I'll ring the police which he told me to go ahead and do and stood there...behind my car door. At this point i wanted to kick him out the garden but was unsure where i stood. If i ejected him forcefully would there be any repercussions? My sister lived here before me and had a similar experience. It sounds petty but this guy is rude, obnoxious and has small man syndrome written all over him. Next time it happens it would be nice to know how far I can take it! IM

Hey, Its such an easy job why not just flush the system and change it anyway if its blue its life is probably going to be 2 years. Also if your unsure what's in there and you mix 2 incompatible coolants your going to end up with a mess. Cheers, IM

Hey, When checking the oil on every bike and car I've had I've always kept the oil topped up to the max level. I've never had a problem..... In fact my car is just about to reach 120K and still going strong and the CB125 saw 45K before we sold it. I was speaking to a guy at work who suggested this is bad for a bikes engine and the level should be kept between the lower and upper limits. Personally I can't see it making much difference if any at all. Surely max means just that... The maximum amount of oil you should put in before your overfilling it. What do you guys think? IM
