Guest Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I've just turned 23. Got a Honda CBF125 about 2 weeks ago and loving it. But its making me want to do my test so badly. And for the riding i will do on it will mostly be town driving and a few longer joineries. If i do the A1 or A2 i would get the Honda CBR500R And i think that will be perfect for me. Would i get bored of this bike? if so how long of a time? A rough estimate of course. Thank you Quote
littlecat Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 impossible to say if you'll get bored, everyones different. if you've only just started riding , id probably skip the a2 and wait till 24 to do the DAS....then again, if you want the bigger bike now and can afford to do das twice, get a2 now, then upgrade in a year when you turn 24 if you do start wanting something bigger.my daughter rides a restricted ER5 on A2, and can happily keep up with the rest of us on bigger bikes, I guess its more about how you ride than what you're actually riding. fq-craigus Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 As above. My friend done the a2 at 23 then a couple months ago done his a and bought a bigger bike. Its hard to say if and when you will get bored, i got bored quick with a fazer, so upgraded within a month, then took me 10 months to get bored of 600's now im happy. Money is the main restricting aspect Quote
Joeman Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 If you can keep the 125, get plety of practice and build up one years no claims bonus. Do your test when you turn 24 and go buy a big bike. Much more choice of bikes when you're not on a restricted licence. Quote
Adam Posted June 14, 2015 Posted June 14, 2015 I'm in the same boat as you at 23 questioning wether I should or shouldn't do my A2 and to be honest part of me says do it cause then you get a bigger bike, then the other part says no wait another year. Now I'm swinging towards waiting and my reasons are it is simply cheaper to do the DAS and buy whatever bike I want. Quote
Woodman Posted June 15, 2015 Posted June 15, 2015 I'd wait because its an expensive do and theres no need to pay out twice when you are so close to been able to do the A1.You may keep the 500 for a few years but eventually you'll want to get the unrestricted licence and that will mean going through it all again.I've had a 600 3 months and I'm already thinking about getting a 1000cc.Not really because its not fast but I just want lazy low down power. Dav3y Posted June 19, 2015 Posted June 19, 2015 If money is no object then do A2 now and then A when you turn 24.The likelyhood is though, if you are bored with a 125 now, you will quickly get bored of the 500 as well so the sensible thing to do would be wait as Joeman says, get your years no claims and then go straight to A license. If most of your current riding is town traffic, then a 125 is not really any more of a disadvantage than a bigger bike if you ignore the getting away from lights aspect.
