Reading up about baffles.. Removing them can make the stock exhausts on bikes sound better (which mine sorely needs) any one done this before?

Reading, people mentioned the fuel/air will be wrong so that will need to be adjusted. Also i know i should just get a new end can, but for some reason removing my current can aint happening so i will likely need a new system at some point (As the collector box is rusting like a good'un)

By the way if your going to replace the lot and with a open end can then keep the K&N then get the bike set up for the lot

+1 what Steve said. Means you've still got the original for when you sell the bike. If it doesn't have an accident with a box of matches before then.

better off buying new or 2nd hand end can rather than trying to modify the original

The damn thing won't seperate from the link pipe. Gonna try get the whole thing off and look at it properly some point, Need to get some penetrating fluid on some of the nuts/bolts as they're rusted on..

If you're offering?

If you don't already have the tools and skills to cut the can open, remove the crap and then weld it back up then it would probably be cheaper and definitely be easier to trawl eBay till a suitably loud 2nd hand aftermarket can that fits shows up and buy it. Bonus is you also have your old stock can for when you sell the bike/need an MOT.

I was just looking up the same thing, tempted to have a play with my gixxer can. I saw another stock one on ebay for £29. I could cut up and drill it to my hearts content.

I'd say if you could get yours off then you'd be able to experiment a little easier... no idea how yours is fitted.

I've done some weld work on exhausts before but I wouldn't bother with the bandit.

Fuel exhausts are awesome, I suggest you see if you can get one of those :)

Really cheap and seem to last really well too!

Ooh! True that

When you visit Cambridge we can go for a pint at the Jenny Wren or The Ship and leave the bikes out front - they'll either be burning or gone by the time we get out :thumb:

you will be far cheaper buying an exhaust as a decent welder to weld exhausts is upwards of £500

and thats for a cheap one!

you need a tig welder as your doing stainless

you can use a mig but the results just arent the same

I wouldn't even attempt it and I know a few cracking welders that would do it for free

stock cans can be a ball ache to strip out and make them look good again
