Glorian Posted July 1, 2015 Posted July 1, 2015 Think i've posted this before..Oil seems to gather infront of (http://www.robinsonsfoundry.co.uk/conte ... dcover.htm) just below the number 10. on all 3 spark plug seals. Reading up on it someone says it might be worth replacing the seals (3&4 in the picture)Just wondering how tricky that's going to be and wether or not i should attempt it or if i'll just end up causing more agro, as i'll have to remove the whole cover. I'm happy to try the work but only if i'm not going to risk fudging the engine. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Question is - Where is the oil coming from? Are you sure that the gasket (13) is not leaking oil which is running to the collection point where you are seeing it?I'd check that first before looking to replace the seals. When did you do the last 'top end' service? The gasket and seals should have been replaced then. Quote
Glorian Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 I can't see any trace of oil coming from (13) as for service.. it's done about 11k miles now i last did a service about 1500 miles ago did brake fluid and oil / filter change. Reckon it's worth swopping the gasket first and see if it improves? at £8 not to bad to test it. Quote
Grumpy Old Git Posted July 2, 2015 Posted July 2, 2015 Unless you can definitely pinpoint where the oil is coming from, I'd go the gasket replacement as a first step.. As you say "cheap" and easy to do. Quote
Glorian Posted July 2, 2015 Author Posted July 2, 2015 Will give it a go then If it fixes it great, if not, i guess it's 1 less thing i need to replace later on Cheers G.O.G Quote
