Hi.

I have had this happened twice now.

Honda cbf 125

Scenario is:

Sat in a long que, (Not comfortable filtering yet) bike is working it's little a** off about 5-10 mins down the road this is now at normal road speeds 30-40 mph the bike starts losing power, i ease of the throttle bike then decides to gain power jolting my forward, then loses power then gains power and it does this until I pull over or the bike just cuts out.

whist losing and gaining power when adding more throttle the engine makes a popping noise instead of the normal sound it tends to make.

The current fix seems to be turning the bike off and leaving it for 5-10 minuets. then it seems to run fine.

but it's frankly scary when your going 40 mph car up your back side and you lose all power and start to rapidly slow down.

has anyone had this issue with a Honda CBF 125 *10 plate or know of this issue?

P.s almost forgot it cuts out when in Neutral too.

I'm pretty sure they're known to have a fuel pump/injector problem don't quote me on that though it's just what I recall seeing on here.

That sounds exactly like a clogged fuel injector in my car. So I would guess that or a filter blockage.

Is your bike fuel injected or carbs?

I stick this in the car every so often to stop the injectors getting clogged too badly - http://www.halfords.com/motoring/engine ... aner-250ml Never used it on a bike though.

Taking it out on a long run, and revving it higher than normal clears them if it is particularly bad.

You can also get them profesionally cleaned apparently, and I dare say there are clips on youtube on how to do it yourself.

If your bike has carbs however... check their condition and the condition of the filters.

The same happened to my 2014 CBF125 earlier is year. I'm afraid that the solution was a new fuel pump fitted by Honda. This is a fairly common problem it seems, potentially linked to a tank inner coating that gets into the pump filter (which can't be replaced separately..). I caught mine on video so you can check if your symptoms match mine:

There is also a lot of info on the following blog that I found useful at the time:

Yep that's exactly it. If you don't mind me asking how much did it cost you to get it fixed?

I was lucky and my bike was still under warranty, so Honda paid. I did get a copy of the invoice which listed the cost at about £275 if I remember rightly. The advice is that if you do get a new pump, to fit an in-line fuel filter to protect it from recurring.

Ouch, yeah that was lucky, well I use my bike everyday, love using it so, small price to pay I guess, I'll be phoning my local Honda shop tomorrow.

To be honest I'd try and get it done for free considering it's such a common problem, why should you have to pay for their problem.

Alternatively you could get one online and fit it yourself.

The fuel tanks were coated with an anti corrosive they forgot to clean them after shipping, it destroys the fuel pump. I got mine done under the 2 yr warranty. Was advised by Abingdon Honda that I didn't need to install an inline fuel filter.
