I rarely use the car and when I do, the behaviour of other drivers with respect to parking is ... puzzling!

I drove my daughter to a hospital appointment yesterday - and there were people queueing in their cars to get the spaces nearest the front door, when the back of the car park was empty!!

I see the same behaviour at supermarkets.

I don't understand it. I really don't. I really really don't!

I parked up, got out, got the baby buggy out of the boot, unfolded it, put her in it, walked across the car park to the main entrance - and the same people were still queueing.

If you can't walk, or you're picking someone up who's just been discharged with a leg in plaster, etc, there are loads (and I mean LOADS) of wheelchairs right by the front door, and clearly marked, easy-access walkways all through the carpark (it is a hospital after all!)

I can only assume they are (a) very lazy or (b) very, very stupid.

what really gets me is the fools parking their BMWMERCAUDIs or white vans in disabled bays or parent and child bays. The latter i accept is not law not to park in them, but a courtesy extended to those with nippers - they really are a god send. But i guess if you're "just popping in for a packet of fags" well that's just fine!

or those people who think it's perfectly acceptable to stop in the middle of the road to pick someone up and load all their shopping into the boot, strapping in jemima and jayjay into their child seats while causing a traffic jam of apocalyptic proportions purely on the basis they're "just picking someone up".

human traffic.

When I have to drive I tend to park as far away from people as possible :D

Yep, people who park in child spaces or disabled spaces wind me up too.

But no business will ever risk annoying a customer by enforcing any sort of penalty, so we are left to rely on the morality of the individuals...and in the UK that's not something that can be relied upon often.

That is weird! I've seen someone waiting for a space a few times, but never a whole queue of them!

I tend to park away far away from other cars in car parks if I can. I don't have an especially nice car that I want to keep pristine, I just hate how loads of folk find it so difficult to park straight!

It's really bizarre when you see people doing this at the leisure centre or gym!

I had an ex who used to drive to the gym - and she lived about 20 minutes walk away from it.

I just park at the back where I can actually open my doors wider than Victoria Beckhams stomach. Annoyingly someone always parks next to you though, guaranteed!

Your car has caught what I term "lonely car syndrome". Mine has it too... I figure it must send out a pleading signal when I leave it all alone in a car park and other cars come and keep it company. ;-)

The problem usually stems from one or two annoying and stupid people at the front, the rest results from an assumption that if there is a queue, then you must politely wait your turn, regardless of what the queue is for.

You'll often find the route cause to be the same kind of person who doesn't move down into the carriage on the underground, or who thinks if they unclip really quick they can get off the plane before everyone else.
