iangaryprice Posted March 18, 2016 Share Posted March 18, 2016 Check your valve clearances first, if the inlet is not closing fully not only will it cause backfire but will quickly damage the engine.If clearance are OK, check the ignition timing, If timing is OK, check the carb, needle valve controlling the float level could be sticking/worn.While carb is stripped remove and clean all jets making sure they go back in the correct place.
