Sorry, another 'Guess the cause of the sound without hearing it' thread...

Got a new sporadic high pitched whistley 'ting' coming from my exhaust at low revs, hot cold makes no difference don't think it's warming up/down noises as it's in time with engine

Something to worry about, or just keep my earplugs in?

Purchase a second-hand 'Ting Net' from fleabay. Attach to the rear of your 'pipe' and start the engine.

Once you have caught the 'Ting' in your net, dispose of carefully and re-sell the net on Fleabay.

The only hazard is that you may have a family of 'tings' (they do breed quite quickly) and catching them all can take several minutes!

it could be air leak on the intake it could be exhaust gasses escaping or it could be a mouse slowly roasting trapped in the engine

Is the exhaust well attached on the hangers? - could be a metal on metal thing if something is loose
